Remember that The 9 Muses are alive and well and their reality intersects with ours.  Temper the traditional information with a touch of whimsy and a lot of Magick.  Take your time while reading and looking at the picture.  Open your mind and heart and let The Muse come to you and reveal her Truth.

THE MUSE CLIO

Clio is "The Proclaimer" and is known as the Muse of History.  Often she is seen sitting with a scroll near a chest of books.  She is credited with introducing the Phoenician alphabet into Greece.
She teased Aphrodite's love of Adonis and the consequence was that she fell in love with Pierius, the son of Magnes and the king of Macedonia.  With Pierius, she gave birth to Hyacinth.

The Muse Clio
by Vermeer

"Majestic Clio touched her silver wire,
And through time's lengthened vista moved a train,
In dignity sublime;--the patriot's fire
Kindled its torch in heaven's resplendent ray,
And 'mid contention rose to Heaven again."

From An Ode To Music by James G. Percival
